Late Saudi historian Mohammed Al-Aqili honored

RIYADH: The life of the late Saudi historian Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Aqili has been honored at an event organized by a prestigious Riyadh-based research body.
Undersecretary of the governorate of Jazan, Said bin Manahi, was among the attendees at the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives’ (Darah) seventh symposium of national and scientific programs. Titled, “One of the prominent figures of Saudi Arabia,” the event was staged in the college of arts and humanities theater at Jazan University.
Darah Secretary-General Fahd Al-Samari said that the foundation’s honoring of Al-Aqili was in recognition of his devotion to his country and the Jazan region and scholarly services to history, literature, and heritage.
The scientific session covered Al-Aqili’s works, achievements, pioneering research, and contribution to building the cultural knowledge base on the south of the Kingdom in the political, social, literary, and environmental fields.
Delegates reviewed his literary and historical works which amounted to 35 books, and more than 200 articles, research, and investigation papers.
