Iran’s FM visits Japan as part of diplomatic tour

Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, yesterday arrived in the Japanese capital Tokyo as part of a diplomatic tour of the region, Iran’s Fars news agency reported.

Earlier this week Zarif visited Turkmenistan and India and held talks with senior officials from both countries on ways to develop bilateral relations and exchange views on the most important regional and international issues.

India is seeking to continue importing oil from Iran, despite US sanctions on Tehran’s oil sector.

US President Donald Trump has cancelled a waiver given to eight countries including India and Japan allowing them to import Iranian oil despite of the “unprecedented sanctions” he has unilaterally imposed on the Islamic Republic following his withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.
