Peace and Security Council gives Sudan’s transitional military council 15 days to hand power over to civilians

The African Peace and Security Council gave, on Monday, Sudan’s transitional military council a 15-day deadline to hand power over to a civilian government.

The council’s decision was declared during a press conference, on Monday, following a meeting in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, to discuss the latest developments of the situation in Sudan, according to the Anadolu Agency’s correspondent.

The council re-affirmed its rejection of the transitional military council’s takeover of power in Sudan.

The army’s leadership in Sudan announced, on Thursday, that the Sudanese army has forced President Omar Al-Bashir out and arrested him under the influence of popular protests, which have been taking place in the country since 19 December, in addition to the appointment of a transitional military council to manage a two-year transitional period.
