Saudi Shoura Council and EU officials meet in Riyadh

RIYADH: Deputy Speaker of the Shoura Council Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutani met the head of the EU delegation to Saudi Arabia, Michele Cervone D’Urso, in Riyadh on Thursday.

Al-Mutani highlighted the Kingdom’s political and economic importance in the Arab and Islamic world and its active role in the international arena.

He also pointed out that the Shoura Council plays a vital role in the Kingdom’s diplomacy through friendship committees with various parliamentary councils and unions to exchange views, promote understanding, and establish cooperation, and that the Kingdom is keen to further develop its relations with the EU, especially at the parliamentary level.

Al-Mutani and D’Urso reviewed a number of issues of common interest and ways to enhance parliamentary relations between the Shoura Council and the European Parliament.
